WHY DO I HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR?
Why do i have nothing to wear?
A common refrain, often uttered as we gaze into a wardrobe full of clothes! We're here to unpick this common connundrum and offer our "buy less, buy better" style solutions to make dressing in outfits you love a breeze.
There are many reasons why we often feel that our outfit options just don't cut it, so let’s deep dive into the most common scenarios.
Trends
You may be falling into the trap of following too many trends. A magpie to silver trousers, acid brights AND paired back neutrals? The key is to take it easy on the in-season "must haves", but this doesn't mean you have to shun them altogether. It is all about finding the balance between personal style and trends, opting instead to invest in capsule wardrobe building blocks that will work with everything. If you're a colour-lover, pick one or two key shades. If you love neutral style, pick a refined pallet to team together. THEN limit yourself to only the on-trend styles that you truly love, and just one or two of them per season. When buying, think about how you will work them into your capsule style.
Something simple such as adding a wide leg trouser/jean into your outfit rotation or adding a touch of leopard print through an accessory is a way of incorporating trends into your style whilst keeping your outfits authentic and comfortable. Have fun with fashion trends without letting them take over your wardrobe.

Mix and Match
One of the most effective ways to create a multi-functional capsule wardrobe is by building your wardrobe around the idea that everything goes with everything. You may be buying clothes with too many clashing patterns or clashing colours that don’t align with your current wardrobe, so you don’t gravitate toward them.
At Eleven Loves we thoughtfully design all of our pieces with the intention that they can be mixed and matched together so that getting dressed is never difficult! So before making a purchase think, “what do I have in my wardrobe that will create an outfit with this?”
2/ The Perfect Boyfriend T-shirt
The social media space creates the illusion that outfits are a one-time wear, but this is far from the case. If you love an outfit, wear it over and over again. Making small tweaks like switching your accessories or changing the tuck on a top, will bring a fresh take on wear-on-repeat looks. It is also a great way to embrace sustainable style.
As an alternative, style multiple outfits around one piece of clothing. This way, if you have a favourite pair of jeans, jumper, t-shirt or jacket, you can build multiple outfits around one hero piece.
It's time to declutter...
We all tend to hold on to some pieces in our wardrobe for far too long, sometimes having too many options to choose from makes the decision process even harder as it can be hard to see the potential in each piece! This usually means it’s time for a declutter.
One of the best ways to declutter your wardrobe is by thinking about your most worn pieces and most flattering pieces. An outfit should make you feel as good as you look. It’s the pieces we are unsure about we need to either give to a friend, donate (we suggest our not-for-profit partners Give Your Best!), or sell on. This will create room for pieces that resonate with your style.
Basics
You may find you have too many ‘hero’ pieces and not enough high quality ‘basics’ to create outfits with. Basics should be a hero piece within your wardrobe. Investing in a high quality basic is sometimes overlooked. These pieces are the building blocks of an outfit. A plain white t-shirt holds so much power. They can be dressed up, dressed down, and are the perfect layering piece. Basics such as a good pair of jeans, or a tailored blazer can transform your outfit options and enhance your style. In our approach to inspired forever-wear, less is most definitely more.
