The Olivia Oversized Poplin Shirt in powder blue is cut oversized on purpose, with a curved, dipped back hem, pleat detail and volume through the back, a slightly cropped front and deep cuffs with bracelet length sleeves.

Should I size down in the Olivia?

Many of our customers do. The Olivia is cut generously, so sizing down still gives you a comfortably relaxed shirt with a slightly neater look. If you are between sizes, go for the smaller size. If you love a properly oversized feel, stay with your usual size and enjoy the room.

How should an oversized shirt fit?

Correctly at the shoulders and collar, generously everywhere else. That is the difference between a shirt cut oversized on purpose and simply sizing up in a regular shirt. When the shoulder seams and collar sit where they should, all the volume below them reads as intentional rather than accidental.

Is this the same as a boyfriend shirt?

Almost. A boyfriend shirt is a classic shirt worn loose and relaxed. The Olivia is cut oversized on purpose, so you get that same easy, borrowed feeling with a much cleaner fit at the shoulders and collar. If you love the boyfriend shirt look, this is the considered version of it.

How do you tuck an oversized shirt?

The one side tuck is the most flattering. Keep the button side, the side that sits on top, out and untucked, and tuck only the other side. It creates a soft diagonal line and shows where your waist is. A simple French tuck at the front works too, and a full tuck with tailored trousers is the smartest option for work.

What do you wear under an oversized shirt?

Worn open, a fitted vest, a simple T Shirt or a rib dress all work beautifully and keep the layers neat. Worn buttoned, a smooth vest sits well under paler fabrics. It is one of the reasons an oversized shirt earns its place, it works as a shirt and as a light layer.

What is cotton poplin?

Poplin is a closely woven cotton with a smooth face and a crisp, structured feel. The tight weave is what keeps the collar sharp and the shape architectural, which is why it is the classic fabric for a white shirt. Our chambray and textured Olivias are cut from the same block but in softer fabrics with drape.
