Designed with stylist Shelley Jackson, The Perfect Shirt is a white shirt for women in a heavier weight brushed cotton that feels soft and holds its shape. The structured collar stands up on its own, the deep cuffs stay turned back, and the result is a classic shirt with a modern line.

What size should I take?

True to size. This is our relaxed classic cut rather than a deliberately oversized one, so it adapts to how you wear it, tucked, tied, layered or loose. If you are between sizes and prefer a neater look, take the smaller one.

How do you tuck an oversized shirt?

The one side tuck is the most flattering. Keep the button side, the side that sits on top, out and untucked, and tuck only the other side. It creates a soft diagonal line and shows where your waist is. A simple French tuck at the front works too, and a full tuck with tailored trousers is the smartest option for work.

What do you wear under an oversized shirt?

Worn open, a fitted vest, a simple T Shirt or a rib dress all work beautifully and keep the layers neat. Worn buttoned, a smooth vest sits well under paler fabrics. It is one of the reasons an oversized shirt earns its place, it works as a shirt and as a light layer.

What is cotton poplin?

Poplin is a closely woven cotton with a smooth face and a crisp, structured feel. The tight weave is what keeps the collar sharp and the shape architectural, which is why it is the classic fabric for a white shirt. Our chambray and textured Olivias are cut from the same block but in softer fabrics with drape.
